Creating art is a favourite pastime for many locals and you can find their artworks in restaurants, cafés and studios across the island.
Most artists on Great Barrier work from home and allow visitors to view their work by prior arrangement. The Aotea Community Art Gallery located in Claris/Kaitoke has a variety of artists' work on display. Permanent displays of work may also be seen at the gallery at the Currach Irish Bar in Tryphena and at Claris Texas Café.
For anyone interested in art and the influence that Great Barrier Island has on artists’ creative abilities, head along to the Aotea Community Art Gallery.
